Terms and Conditions

Booking Makaton training as an individual

Contact details on the booking form must be for the individual attending the course.

On booking, you are agreeing to the dates and times you have booked.

The address and email provided will be used to post course materials and email course details needed to access the training.

Workshops are non-refundable and non-transferable.  Your booking is only valid for the date(s) booked and not transferable to other training dates.  Please make sure you can attend all dates before booking.  You can transfer your place to someone else (aged 16+), but you must inform me of the change at least 24 hours beforehand providing relevant contact details and ensure the course materials are passed to the new participant.

If you cannot attend, you can rebook to another date at a reduced cost.  You will be invoiced for the new new training date and must pay within 10 days to secure your place. Non payment will result in the place being put back for sale.

Alternatively, you may request a last minute place on a workshop with available places. Last minute places will only be released 48 hours before the commencement of the training.  It is your responsibility to contact Lorna Makaton Tutor.  If space is available, there will be no further charge.

If you cannot attend part of the training, you will be unable to to continue with the workshop and will not receive your certificate. You can either rebook an alternative workshop or request a last minute place as outlined above.

Should the course be cancelled by Lorna Makaton Tutor, you will be given the option of a full refund or offered a rescheduled date.

Booking Makaton training as an organisation

Cancellation or date change for group bookings

Organisations must complete a booking form.  An invoice will be issued on receipt.  Full payment must be made by the date issued on the invoice.

​

It is the responsibility of the organisation to ensure participants can attend all the training sessions/dates booked.  You may transfer places, but you must make sure alternative participants have all the relevant course materials.  Certificates will be provided on completion of all course modules.

For online training, hard copies of participant manuals will be posted to the organisation address given on the booking form.  It is your responsibility to ensure participants receive their training manual before the workshop begins.

​

For in-person workshops, you will be required to complete a short risk assessment form with venue and contact details.  It is your responsibiity to ensure sufficient information is given to enable smooth running of the workshop.

​

By completing and submitting the booking form, the client is agreeing to the dates and times stated on the form.

On receiving the invoice, the client is obliged to transfer this to the organisation administrator and to secure prompt payment.

​

In the event of the client wishing to cancel or change a booking, the following charges apply:

100% course fee for cancellation within 28 days of the the course date

50% course fee within 56 days of the course date

Full refund if the client cancels 57 or more days prior to course commencement. 

​

Should the client need to change the date of the training:  please put your request to change date in writing as soon as possible.  If it is more than 4 weeks before the original training dates booked, then Lorna Makaton Tutor will endeavour to change the training dates to a mutually convenient time.

Date transfers are not offered within 4 weeks of the training date.

Should the course be cancelled by Lorna Makaton Tutor, you will be given the option of a full refund or offered a rescheduled date.

School based sessions

Session type and length will be agreed and quoted for.  

Travel costs and preparation time will be quoted for.  

You will be invoiced after the sessions have taken place.  Terms will be advised on the invoice.

Should you need to cancel or change the date:  please give as much notice as possible.  

Should I have to cancel, I will aim to reschedule as soon as possible.  

Mileage and Travel

Travel to venues for training and school sessions will be quoted for

It is requested that accounts are settled within 10 days of the invoice date.

Payment via bank transfer is preferred.  Cash and cheque payments are also accepted

Makaton training courses

I ask for payment in advance due to the limited number of places available and for course materials to be purchased.
